Today is Pearl Harbor Day. A day that will live in infamy for most Americans – except the President of the United States, that is.

During a ceremony commemorating the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor naval base in Hawaii on December 7th, 1941, President Trump referred to the deaths of over 2,300 American military men and women as “a pretty wild scene.”

Yes, the Commander-in-Chief of the United States military just casually referred to one of the nation’s most devastating military catastrophes with the same language he would use to describe an opulent yacht party or a particularly titillating trip on known pedophile Jeffery Epstein’s private plane.

Not only did he make light of a somber moment, he did it while speaking with a 93-year-old veteran whose comrades died around him by the thousands in a hellish vortex of fire and twisted metal.

This is only the latest in a string of incidents in which Trump has actively disrespected our veterans. Just a week ago, the President used a racial slur while ostensibly honoring the Navajo Code Talkers that were vital to Allied communication efforts during the Second World War; shortly before that, he engaged in a feud with the widow of a slain Green Beret over his callous “condolence” call to her.

Pearl Harbor Day is one of the most hallowed days in the American identity; far from cowing us, the pain and horror of Pearl Harbor inspired our nation to embark on a mission to liberate the world from the grip of fascist oppression. The fact that Trump is entirely ignorant of the power of this day is yet another in a seemingly endless string of examples of why he is unfit to lead this nation./verifiedpolitics.com/
