In March 2017, the Trump campaign’s former state director for Oklahoma and Oklahoma State Senator Ralph Shortey, 35, was caught by police in a motel room with a 17-year-old boy whom he met off of Craigslist.
The disgraced Republican official pleaded guilty to one count of child sex trafficking in a deal to settle four criminal charges.
Police have finally released body cam footage of his humiliating arrest at a Super 8 Motel.
Per LiveLeak.com, where the video was originally posted, “After seemingly getting dressed, Shortey answered the door in a religious tee, which is printed with a bible verse Ephesians 5:22 (which references women submitting to their husbands) in addition to the phrase, ‘now go make me a sandwich.’”
Shortey was indicted in September on charges of sharing child pornography online, soliciting sexual videos from minors and the sex trafficking charge to which he pleaded guilty. TV station KOCO reports:
Former Oklahoma state Sen. Ralph Shortey has agreed to plead guilty to one count of child sex trafficking in exchange for three other charges to be dismissed, Shortey’s lawyer Ed Blau confirmed Saturday.
Shortey faces life in prison, which is why he instead pleaded guilty to the 10-year mandatory minimum charge of child sex trafficking.
Shortey solicited the boy by offering to pay him to visit him at a Super 8 Motel off Interstate Highway 35 in Moore, Oklahoma after sending a series of explicit text messages to the boy who said he “needed money for spring break.”
On the night that he was caught, the 17-year-old boy’s girlfriend followed him to the motel after finding out about his plan to prostitute himself and alerted his parents. They called the police who apprehended the Republican lawmaker minutes later.
The 35-year-old “family values” Republican sent a series of inappropriate messages to the teenager via text, which prosecutors noted included the phrase: “I’m gonna f*ck you like a good little boy 🙂 if you keep calling me daddy.”
The deeply conservative Oklahoma GOP State Senator had only ever made national headlines in his official capacity for proposing a bill to make it illegal to use human fetuses in food, which is neither a dire concern in this country nor what Oklahoma taxpayers expect their tax dollars to be squandered on.
Shortey is the third member of the Trump campaign to be criminally convicted this year, including foreign policy aide George Papadopoulos and former national security adviser Michael Flynn, both of whom lied to the FBI, pleaded guilty and have been cooperating with special counselor Robert Mueller.
Only time will tell how much longer Americans will continue to put up with the Republican Party’s glaring hypocrisy when it comes to “family values”– or any values at all./verifiedpolitics.com/
